How to Check the Current WINDOW5 IGDB Version:

To determine the latest IGDB versions of the records in the WINDOW5 Glass Library, go to the List View of the Glass Library, click on the "Source" column heading (this forces the records to sort by that field), then scroll to the bottom of the list and see what the last records "Source" field is set to (it will be something like "IGDB v. 16.3"). 

Updating the Glass Library:
(The instructions below assume either WINDOW version 5.2 or 6.2)

	First, make sure you have downloaded the current IGDB (see IGDB download instructions) which will result in the new Glazing.mdb file being placed in the LBNL Shared directory (see next step).
	In WINDOW, in File/Preferences, go to the Optical Data tab, and set the first option, IGDB or IGDBUpdate, to the IGDB file, which is called Glazing.mdb -- you can browse to the file with the Browse button. It's location is dependent on the computer operating system as follows:   Windows XP:   C:\Program Files\LBNL\LBNL Shared Windows 7:   C:\Users\Public\LBNL\LBNL Shared
	Next, go to the Glass Library List View, click on the Import button, set Format to IGDB or Optics User Database as the format, and click OK.  WINDOW will open the IGDB file (Glazing.mdb) and you will see ALL the glass layer records for the entire IGDB.   NOTE: If you leave the Format set to "Window 5 Database" and then browse to the IGDB Update.mdb file, you will get an error message saying "Not a valid password"
	The program will open the database set in File/Preferences (the name Glazing.mdb will be displayed at the top of the Import dialog box) and you will see the glass layers which can be imported in to the existing library. All the records for the current IGDB will be in the database.
	Click on the column header for Database_Version, which causes the records to be sorted by version number. This will allow you to select the records of a particular version more easily.
	Highlight the records to be imported, such as all the records with Database_Version set to 16.1, then click the Select button, which will import all the highlighted records into the Glass Library. Answer 'Yes to All' to update the records which were previously in the Glass Library but which are being updated and therefore replaced -- see the Release Notes for each version which will indicate which records have been updated and will be replaced. (Note: If you want ALL the records in the Glazing.mdb database, ie, not just one particular update version, you can click on the Select All button, which selects all the records in the update database, and then click on the Select button to import the selected records into the Glass Library.)
	After the records are imported, you can verify that the records imported properly by clicking on the Source column header, which sorts the records by that column. At the very bottom will be the newly imported records.

PROBLEM UPDATING THE GLASS LIBRARY

If you have opened a WINDOW 5 database with WINDOW 6, then open it again in WINDOW 5, and try to import records from the IGDB in WINDOW 5, you will get the following message:

There is not anything that can be done about this problem, so you will need to get a clean WINDOW 5 database. (Before downloading the new database, rename the old corrupted one, and you might be able to import records from it into the new database)

DISCONTINUED RECORDS or REUSED NFRC IDs

The records listed below are discontinued and should not be used for new simulations.

They are not automatically deleted when updating from an IGDB glazing database, but can be deleted "by hand" in the Glass Library.

In the IGDB Release Version 20.0, there are two records for NFRC ID 5057: one from IGDB 11.4, which is old, and one from IGDB 18.0, which is the current version

It is not possible to import the record from IGDB 18.0 into the WINDOW Glass Library -- it will always default back to the record from IGDB 11.4.

Download one of the following databases (depending on the version of WINDOW that you are running). The database, which is a WINDOW database (not an IGDB database) has only one record in the Glass Library, which is the current IGDB 18.0 version of NFRC ID # 5057. Because this is a WINDOW database you can just import the record into your Glass Library using the Import button, referencing the IGDB20-NFRCID5057.mdb as the source database to import from.

AFG is now AGC Glass Co. N.A. and 232 old AFG records have been deleted. Also, the remaining AFG records that have the new manufacturer name do NOT have the IGDB release number of 17.1.

SO, in order to update the database, do the following:

1. BEFORE importing records from 17.1, delete all the AFG records in your current database,
   NFRC ID's 700 - 1030
2. From the new 17.1 database (glazing.mdb), import all the records with the manufacturer name of AGC Glass Co. N.A. (these will have various IGDB version numbers)
   NFRC ID's 703 - 1030

Pilkington Australia Limited: (4 Deleted Glazings)

There were 4 records in the previous release for Pilkington Australia Limited, which is now Viridian. These record IDs are not replaced in the current 17.1 database, so delete these records and then import the new Viridian records from the 17.1 release.

IGDB Version 17.0:

IGDB Version 16.4 - Special Instructions:

Film Technologies and Solamatrix:

The Manufacturer name changed from Film Technologies to Solamatrix, which affected all the Film Technologies / Solamatrix records in the IGDB. In addition, a few of the records had real changes to them (# 7052 and # 7053), and these changed records have the IGDB version set to 16.4. However, the rest of the records that just had the manufacturer name change do NOT have the new IGDB release version of 16.4.

Therefore, the easiest way to get all the correct records with the Solamatrix manufacturer name is to import ALL of the Solamatrix records from the 16.4 version of Glaziing.mdb, no matter what version of the IGDB they have. This way you will get all the changes from 16.4 as well as the changed manufacturers name for all the records that didn't have any other changes in 16.4

Cardinal IG:

The Manufacturer name changed from Cardinal IG to Cardinal Glass Industries, which affected all the Cardinal records in the IGDB. In addition, some filenames changed, and some records were deleted. For the records whose filenames changed, the IGDB release number was incremented to 16.4. However, for the records who only had the manufacturer name change, the IGDB release version did NOT increment to 16.4.

The easiest way to get all the correct Cardinal records from the IGDB 16.4 release is to import ALL the Cardinal records from the 16.4 version of Glazing.mdb, no matter what version of the IGDB they have. That way you will get the changes from 16.4 as well as the changed manufacturers name for all the records that didn't have any other changes in 16.4

IN ADDITION, you need to delete the following records from the database (if you first import all the Cardinal records from 16.4, the remaining records to be deleted will be obvious because they will still have the old manufacturers name of "Cardinal IG"
