Dual Glazing vs. Single Pane

On the left is a normal double glazed window. On the right is a single pane window. The single pane window is only slightly warmer than the cold air behind it. The dual pane window is considerably warmer which indicates that less heat is flowing out through the window and that the indoor space will be more comfortable. The two windows here are being cooled on the back side with wind at 0°C (32°F). (The other thermograms in this series are taken with colder conditions on the back side so don't try to cross compare these pictures. Too much frost builds up on the single pane window to allow testing it at the temperatures used for the other images).
